Mercurial Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress got hit with a  $45,000 fine.This, added with the $117,000 fine a couple of weeks ago, would get Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin a second wardrobe makeover.  Burress had to cough up the dough this time for two offenses: throwing the ball into the stands after scoring a touchdown and then for, in layman’s terms, losing his mind on an official after being flagged for an admittedly bogus offensive pass interference call.

Still, while officials do seem to escape accountability time and time again (we’ll see if Ed Hochuli doesn’t officiate any big playoff games this postseason), Burress really has to start thinking of the team. Sure he’s still not in Terrell Owens stratosphere in terms of diva-like behavior, but he has to be grating on management’s nerves.

Remember Plaxico, management always gets the last word in football. Beware.
