Rays looking to get even
After being thoroughly dominated last night by left-hander Cole Hamels (including an iffy non-call on a potential balk when Carlos Pena was thrown out stealing late in the game), Tampa Bay and its cowbell-clanking denizens hope that its offense gets going tonight against Brett Myers. The Rays also hope James Shields reclaims his “Big Game” nickname; otherwise they will be in a quite uncomfortable hole when they head to Philadelphia for the middle games of the season.
MLB would also be likely squirming a bit at the prospect of a sweep, since any lost revenue in this hurting economy would definitely put a damper on its outlook. A Rays win tonight would probably send a lot of people to bed with a smile on their faces. The Phillies have never been about the storybook ending though.
Stay tuned.
